Success
Coach Carter successfully completed his vision for his team. Not only did they have a successful season but their individual academic grades got significantly better. The team almost finished the season undefeated which was a huge improvement from their 4 won games in the season prior to Coach Carters uprising. Being under Coach Carter, immediately improved their success with basketball. Developing new skills and plays was the key factor for their success in winning games. The team also experienced success in their academics. As Carter stated, basketball is a privilege, keeping up to date with school work was more important. He made them understand you can’t rely on sports and gave them a dream to graduate to attend college. He had accomplished this task eventually towards the end as six members had passed on to college. Coach Carter was not only a basketball coach to his players, he was a mentor that inspired them not only in basketball but in life.
Failure
The main failure seen in the movie was many players failed to cooperate with the contract they had signed in the beginning. The team thought as long as they continued their winning streak, it was acceptable for them to do as they please. After Coach Carter was informed that the team’s performance in school was below the necessary requirement he immediately took action. The team had failed to meet their agreement and dishonor their bargain of the deal. Resulting to the coach place serious consequences such as the lock down of the court until they bring their GPA back up. The very first day he got terrible cooperation from the team members about the contract. One of the team members, Cruz, even tried to punch him in the face, but Coach Carter was ready for it and wasn't afraid to get physical to show that he is the coach and they need to listen to him. For that being, Cruz left the gym along with some other players. Other downsides to Coach Carter's goals were that the players who left, got involved in gang related issues. The players who remained in the gym failed to cooperate with one another, were undisciplined, and had bad fitness levels. All of which contributed negatively towards his goals.
