Coach Ken Carter's Leadership Traits
The leadership traits that Coach Carter demonstrates show just how serious he was to revolutionize Richmond High school’s basketball team. As an educated, experienced and disciplined coach, he reminded his team that before they can begin respecting others, they had to respect themselves first. Besides motivational and respectful, Coach Carter was also fearless, focused, and confident.
One trait I believe is one of the most important to be a leader is relentlessness. Despite resistance from every side, his team, parent’s teachers and the school board, Coach Carter continued to do what he wanted felt he needed to do to ensure a bright future for his players. It’s that power of faith that ultimately wins over his students. As a result, they begin working to help each other improve athletically and academically. He is determined to turn his team into successful student athletes and has secured the support of other teachers to help them achieve the goals.
